Medicine Lake
Medicine Lake is a small high mountain lake (6,680 feet) that lies within the Medicine Lake caldera. The 7x12-kilometer caldera is a depression near the summit of the Medicine Lake volcano (7,762 feet). The Volcano derives its name from this lake. Medicine Lake is a small 408 acre lake that offers boating, camping, fishing, hiking and swimming. The lake has a maximum depth of 152 feet but it is mostly a shallow lake around the edges (1 to 50 feet). Hungry Brook and Rainbow Trout are plentiful and easy to catch (50 fish days are not uncommon). These are some of the best tasting cold water Trout in Northern California.
